The Parc des Princes remembered Davide Astori

Pre-match the stadium was a cauldron of noise, but as kick-off approached the two warring factions united to remember a fallen warrior.

Fiorentina captain Davide Astori was tragically found dead in tthe team hotel on Sunday, with his sad passing shaking football to its core.

At the Parc des Princes, 53,000 fans fell silent to pay hommage to a man taken too soon. Whilst the Liverpool and Porto fans did likewise in the other last-16 tie.

It had emerged earlier on Tuesday that the cause of Astori's passing was indeed heart problems, as had been suspected.
