Palmeiras beat América Mineiro in the semi-finals of the Brazilian Cup in a match that may have been marked by a possible sending off of Gustavo Gómez in the first half.

With the usual tension that is experienced in cup matches, América Mineiro and Palmeiras battled for a place in the final of the tournament.

The centre-back gave a hard and high kick to the face of Ademir Santos, who went down injured on the pitch because of it.

The referee showed him a yellow card, a decision that was protested a lot by the hosts, who called for the sending off of the defender.
