Matthis de Ligt (centre-half)
Aged 19, the defender has already amassed many domestic admirers, such as Manchester City and Manchester United, having come through the famous Ajax youth academy. In terms of international acclaim, de Ligt has accumulated 11 caps to date, the most recent of these being in the deciding Nations League match with Germany this past week. The youngster had a torrid beginning to his international career, only lasting 45 minutes against Bulgaria before being hauled off at half time. However he seems to have come a long way in the past year, and with Virgil van Dijk as his partner at the heart of the Holland rearguard, it seems like the only way is up for de Ligt.
Frenkie de Jong (central midfield)
Clubmate of the first name on the list, de Jong also has many admirers across Europe due to his schooling at the renowned Ajax academy. A defensive midfielder in nature, de Jong is also very composed in the middle of the field, rarely receiving a yellow card in spite of his main purpose being to dismantle enemy attacks. Aged 21, de Jong has 4 caps to his name, and is set to get a more prominent role in future squads, as he was a key man for Holland, as they qualified for the semi-finals of the Nations League this month.
Donny van de Beek (central midfield)
Another Ajax asset, the 21 year old has the more experienced players of Wijnaldum and Vilhena in front of him in the Holland pecking order. Nevertheless, if he continues on his current upward trajectory, he could soon establish himself as the main man in the middle of the pitch. An eye for a pass and a seeming comfort in possession and play dictation, van de Beek has been linked with many sides across Europe including Chelsea and Roma. Another string to his bow is that he has an eye for goal; having already scored 4 goals in 16 games for Ajax this term, van de Beek's statistics in offensive areas outweigh his midfield compatriots , as as such, could lead to him getting the nod over them in the near future.
Denzel Dumfries (right back)
At 22 years of age, Dumfries is one of the main talents emerging from the Dutch league. Plying his Eredivisie trade with PSV Eindhoven, Dumfries is another youngster with more senior players ahead of him in the pecking order for the Netherlands national side. Nevertheless, he was named 'Talent of the Year' in 2017 for aiding Sparta Rotterdam's promotion to the top tier of Dutch football in 2017, and after a brief stint with Heerenveen, he was rewarded with a long term deal from the Dutch champions, PSV. With only 2 caps to his name so far, Dumfries has a long way to go to establish himself as a regular for Ronald Koeman's side, yet he has much promise for the future if he continues to work hard and gain minutes in the Dutch league.
Justin Kluivert (Winger/striker)
Son of a Holland, Ajax and Barcelona legend, Justin has some way to go to eclipse the career his father enjoyed. However, for the time being, he is progressing very well. He moved to Italian giants AS Roma in the summer from Ajax, in search of a challenge, and Champions League football, and has made 10 appearances for the side so far. A surprise omission from the most recent Dutch squad, Kluivert faces plenty of competition in order to break into the national side. Nevertheless, at just 19 years old, he instead captained the U21 side this past week, and will no doubt force his was back into Ronald Koeman's thinking if he continues to perform well on all fronts.
