The first goal of this season's Premier League was scored by Spaniard Sergi Canos. His strike was Brentford's first in England's top tier for over 70 years.
Sergi Canos has thus taken the baton from Michu. He becomes the first Spaniard to score the first goal of the Premier League since the striker did so for Swansea back in 2012. It is only the second time the feat has been achieved in the league's history.
He did so against none other than Arsenal, 22 minutes into the match. The winger won the ball following a poor clearance from Chambers, who avoided a corner but gifted Brentford the opening goal. Canos received the ball in the corner of the area, cutting inside and striking past Leno at the front post, catching both the goalkeeper and Gunners fans completely off guard.
It was Brentford's first goal in the history of the Premier League, and their first scored in England's top flight for a staggering 74 years.
