Without counting the 7-3 friendly win for Atlético in Joao Félix's first test, this is a derby that several Atlético and Real players will make their debuts.
Diego Simeone's side have the most derby debutants this evening. The 3 players most likely to start are Kieran Trippier, Renan Lodi and Joao Félix.
The first two, both new full-backs for Atlético, have become the first names on the team sheet for Atlético, practically playing every match so far.
With regards to Joao Félix, there's no doubt that all eyes will be on him.
The Portuguese star will play in attack alongside Diego Costa, and at 19 years old, he will try to show that age is just a number. There couldn't be a better way to win over the Atlético faithful by excelling against their bitter rivals. He already did it in the summer, although it was a friendly, scoring one and assisting two in a 7-3 win.
For Real Madrid, there will only be one "certainty" to make his debut: Eden Hazard. The Belgian attacker also played in the derby in the preseason, but the bad image of Real Madrid deprived him of showing himself against Simeone's men.
Hazard missed the start of the season with a muscle injury, but against Sevilla he showed that he is hungry to make a name for himself and become the star player that the club labeled him when he arrived. In fact, Eden knows what it's like to play at the Wanda (he did so with Chelsea in 2017-18) and be decisive, he set up Álvaro Morata- he currently plays for Atlético but will miss the match through suspension- in a 1-1 draw.
