With matchday one of the Champions League done and dusted, UEFA have released the shortlist for the best performer of the week.

In the two days there have been some curious results, players that have put themselves in the shop window, and collapses such as Real Madrid's at the Parc des Princes.

The shortlist has now been revealed for the best player of the week in the Champions League, and the goalkeeper that appears is Ter Stegen. The German saved a penalty to help Barcelona avoid defeat in the Signal Iduna Park.

There are other players on the shortlist such as the youngster Haland of Red Bull Salzburg. He became the third-youngest player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League, doing so against Genk.

Orsic also scored a hat-trick in the superb match he played for Dinamo Zagreb, against an Atalanta side who were making their debut in the competition. The Italians now know how cruel the Champions League can be.

Of course, Di María is the other player nominated as he scored a brace against his ex-team, Real Madrid, and he celebrated it in style.
