Erling Haaland's clause has caused much talk over the last few days. Some claim that it does exist, while others, such as Pep Guardiola, deny it. But what is clear is that the European giants are scrutinising the details to know when they will be able to cast their nets with respect to the Norwegian, as is the case at Real Madrid.
After City manager Pep Guardiola publicly said that "it is not true" and that Haaland "does not have a clause", 'The Athletic' has hit back by saying that there is in fact a possibility to see the striker donning another team's shirt in 2024.
'The Athletic' explained that Haaland could leave City in two years, but on the condition that no one in the Premier League buys him. In other words, only foreign clubs could swoop in and buy the striker.
This means either PSG, Barcelona or Real Madrid. Nonetheless, 'AS' revealed that the fee would not be 200 million euros, but that it would be around 20 million less.
In anyone's book, it is still an astronomical fee after what City paid for him, but the possibility is there, according to 'The Athletic'.
