The top job at Villa Park has been vacant since Steve Bruce was sacked last week, with a raft of names being linked with the job.
One of the most surprising candidates to take over is John Terry, who announced his retirement form his playing days on Thursday.
While his knowledge of the club, having played there last season under Bruce, would be an asset, man have pointed to the fact that he has never coached at senior level being a reason why he shouldn't get the job.
Speaking to 'Sky Sports', the former England and Chelsea midfielder revelaed that he has long-had an ambition to go in to management, but refused to comment on the Villa post.
"I'm ready for the next chapter in my life. Let's see what the future brings. Hopefully it brings half the success I had as a player." Terry said.
It's an ambition of mine [to be a manager], it has been for a long time.
"I have ambitions and aspirations to be a coach, a manager, in the long run.
"But, like I said, it's about taking time to reflect. That's the most important thing for me."
