Nicolas Tagliafico could be Marc Cucurella's replacement at Brighton & Hove Albion. Manchester City are close to signing the Spaniard and have the financial means to launch, soon, a big offer, so the Seagulls want to cover their backs. That's where the Argentine comes in, on their agenda according to the tabloid 'The Sun'.
His contract with Ajax runs until 2023 and he wouldn't mind finishing it early. He has been linked with a move to Barcelona, which helped to make it known that he would welcome a change of scenery. He has shown a willingness to negotiate with the Catalan club, although this option has lost ground recently.
It is worth considering, moreover, that he may have been so keen to leave the Dutch club because the alternative was Barça. He may not feel the same way when he learns that his destination would be Brighton, which, while offering him the chance to play in the Premier League, would not offer him the option of fighting for league titles.
Tagliafico's market value is €18.1 million, but as his contract with Ajax ends next year, Brighton could get him at a lower price. In addition, in the 2021-22 season, he did not play much of an important role. He only started 12 matches.
