Szczesny to land at Barca on Monday

The arrival of Wojciech Szczesny at Barcelona has been postponed for a few days. If at first there was talk that this Thursday could be the moment when it would be made official, it will finally be next week.

‘Sport’ reported that the Polish goalkeeper, who is currently in Marbella, will undergo a medical with the Catalan giants on Monday. Once he has passed the medical, he will sign his contract for the current season.

The serious injury to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who will be out for the remainder of the season, forced Barcelona to move quickly and to do so in a limited market. It was here that the name of Szczesny, who just a month ago made a surprise announcement of his retirement after being left out of Thiago Motta's plans, came up. 

While his signing is confirmed, Szczesny is preparing in Marbella to arrive in full fitness for Barcelona and be available from day one for Hansi Flick. Until the arrival of the Pole, Inaki Pena will be Barcelona's first-choice goalkeeper. He already did so in the games against Villarreal, where Ter Stegen was injured, and Getafe.
