The Ivorian left South Wales in 2015 to join Manchester City in a £25million move but he has struggled to settle at the Etihad.
Bony understandably struggled to oust Sergio Aguero as City's starting striker, making just 46 appearances for his new side, scoring 11.
He was shipped out on loan to Stoke last season where he managed just 11 appearances and 2 goals in all competitions, with both goals ironically coming against the Swans in October.
The 28-year-old is still highly thought of in Wales after scoring 26 Premier League goals in just a season and a half at the Liberty Stadium.
Bony has been left out of City's pre-season tour squad, leading to further speculation about his future.
Swansea have already brought in one striker this summer after signing youngster Tammy Abraham on loan from Chelsea, though they do have space in their squad for another front man after record signing Borja Baston joined Malaga on loan.
Interest in the Ivory Coast international is thought to be plentiful, with sides from France, Turkey and China all linked with moves for the powerful striker.
