Sunderland have asked for Bournemouth winger Max Gradel, as he has been pushed down the pecking order at the south coast club.
A deal with the Ivory Coast international would mean a reunion between the player and Sunderland's recently appointed manager Simon Grayson.
Former Leeds manager Grayson took charge of Gredel at Leeds United, bringing him on loan from Leicester to the Whites.
He joined Leeds on a permanent basis after several impressive displays. The 29-year old only made 11 appearances for Bournemouth last season.
