Morocco's absence at the African Nations Championship is having plenty of repercussions. Their complicated relationship with Algeria has led to what happened against Sudan.
Sudan were awarded a 0-3 win without having to kick a ball. They had to go to the stadium, prepare as if they were going to play it, despite knowing their opponents were absent, and ended up getting the three points.
The thing is that the Moroccan FA confirmed they would not be playing the game due to their relationship with Algeria, who closed their air space because of the increasing tension between both countries.
However, CAF did not make this news public and this forced Sudan to prepare for their first match. They sung their anthem, went out onto the pitch and then left without playing. Absolutely surreal.
