It was not to be. It seemed like the party was going to be this Sunday, but it will have to be next weekend at Lille. Tuchel's team slipped up at the most inopportune moment.
Although the German coach did not seem in the mood to win the title because he put out a much changed side including leaving Mbappe on the bench. In his place, Choupo-Moting played, who looked like he would be the star of the night, but he ended up being the villain.
He opened the scoring very early on. Dagba went down the flank and he gave the German of Cameroonian origin the honour of making it 1-0. He scored with his left foot and took advantage of poor Strasbourg defending.
However, joy later turned into a nightmare. Da Costa 13 minutes later started to spoil the night from a PSG perspective. A marvellous counterattack ended with Carole's pase for the man from Cape Verde, who went past Buffon to level the scores.
Before Goncalves scored the goal of the night, with a thunderous strike from the edge of the area which had lots of spin on it, one of the most absurd things happened. Not only in Ligue 1, but in the history of football. When Nkuku beat the goalkeeper chipping the ball over him, Choupo Moting stopped the ball on the goalline and actually cleared the ball away instead of tapping it in which in any case did not require his intervention for it to be 2-1.
PSG went into half-time losing, so it was time to try and fight back. In order to achieve that, Tuchel, who ended the game in the stands as he saw red, brought Mbappe on for the last half an hour.
It was Kehrer, nevertheless, who equalised 10 minutes from the end. The German headed Draxler's corner at the far post from the edge of the six yard-box.
The fightback, which would have given PSG the title, was nearly completed. In added time, both Dani Alves and Mbappe had chances from inside the box to make it 3-2. But it did not end up being the day for European sides to win the title as Juve also failed to clinch the title in Italy.
