Rumours emerged on Sunday that the Premier League club were after Ndiaye and that looks set to become true after further reports published on Tuesday.
In these reports it's claimed that personal terms have been agreed and the only outstanding issue is the player's work permit and visa, with the 27-year-old already at Stoke's training ground after arriving on Tuesday.
Although Ndiaye is a Senegal international and is expected to be part of the squad for this summer's World Cup, he doesn't meet the 60 per cent international appearance requirement to automatically qualify for a work permit in England having only featured in eight games.
It means that the move will take a bit longer to be completed, something that Paul Lambert will be hoping to speed along with their Premier League fixture against Watford on Wednesday evening fast-approaching.
However, the midfielder will not be part of the squad even if the transfer is officially announced before the game because he wasn't registered before midday on Tuesday.
