The 23-year-old has tallied up 18 goals so far in City's domestic campaign, yet against 'The Irons', Sterling turned provider with three assists and a crucial contribution to their fourth goal.
Despite missing several half-chances, including two one-on-ones with goalkeeper Adrian, the forward made himself available and involved in play no doubt pleasing City boss Pep Guardiola.
Sterling admitted to Thierry Henry in an interview with 'Sky' last week: ''My problem is that when I have too much time to think, that's when I mess up. If it is more instinctive with less time to think, I am much better.''
Having played a key role in all of City's goals in their 4-1 victory over West Ham, Sterling's performance will have done nothing but enhance his chances of a spot on the plane to Russia.
