Spain confirms Oyarzabal suffers high-grade left ankle sprain

The Spanish national team returned to training hours after kicking off the fourth edition of the Nations League with a draw against Serbia. They did so with a light session on a pitch next to the Rajko Mitic stadium, with which coach Luis de la Fuente focused on the visit to Switzerland without Mikel Oyarzabal, who is injured in his right ankle.

The bad news in Spain's return to competition after their brilliant European Championship triumph was Oyarzabal's injury. He damaged his ankle in a collision with Serbia goalkeeper Predag Rajkovic and underwent an MRI scan on Friday morning. The medical report confirmed that he suffers 'a high-grade sprain in his left ankle', so it was decided that he should return to San Sebastian, where he will begin his recovery with Real Sociedad's doctors.

The rest of the Spanish internationals trained on Friday morning in a recovery session for those who started against Serbia and a more intense session for the substitutes and Rodri Hernandez, who did not wear the shorts because he has to serve a one-match suspension.

Goalkeepers Alex Remiro and Robert Sanchez plus outfield players Oscar Mingueza, Dani Vivian, Pau Torres, Alejandro Grimaldo, Rodri, Aleix Garcia, Pepelu, Pedri, Ferran Torres, Yeremy Pino and Joselu Mato were the ones who worked for the longest time with an eye on the visit to Switzerland.
