Turkish international defender Caglar Soyuncu, who has played for Leicester City for the past five seasons, arrived in Madrid on Tuesday to join Atletico with the excitement of playing for a club "as big" as the Madrid side, to which he will sign for the next four seasons.
"I am delighted with the welcome. It's very exciting. I'm very lucky to be here to play for such a big club like Atletico. Hopefully we will achieve our objectives and have a good season. It's a difficult challenge, but I'm used to it. I believe everything will go well," he said on his arrival at Adolfo Suarez-Barajas airport in the Spanish capital.
Soyuncu will formalise his contract with the Madrid club in the next few hours, with whom he will begin his pre-season work next Friday.
The 27-year-old Turkish centre-back is one of three signings completed by Atletico this summer, along with left-back Javi Galan, from Celta and signed until 2026, and Uruguayan defender Santiago Mourino, from Racing Montevideo, who is due to arrive in Spain to join the Spanish outfit on Wednesday.
