Southampton:
Charlie Austin returns from a knock for the hosts, with Virgil Van Dijk expected to start his first Premier League game in eight months after a combination of a serious ankle injury and a protracted summer transfer saga. The Dutch defender wanted to leave the club during the summer but the Saints' board stood firm and the former Celtic man made his first-team return as a second-half substitute in last week's win over Crystal Palace. Fellow defender Matt Targett is a doubt with an ankle complaint, though former Bayern Munich midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is available once again following the birth of his daughter.
Man Utd:
Jose Mourinho has no new injury concerns ahead of the game with only Paul Pgba (hamstring), Alex Tuanzebe (back) and long-term absentees Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (both knee) unavailable for the game. David De Gea, Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly and Nemanja Matic are all expected to be recalled after sitting out Wednesday's Carabao Cup victory over Burton. Left-back Luke Shaw made his long-awaited return from injury during that game but Mourinho is unlikely to start the England international against his former side.

Southampton have suffered more Premier League defeats against Manchester United than any other side (24).
