Winter has been a busy season for Mislav Orsic. He took part in the World Cup in Qatar with the Croatian national team alongside the great Luka Modric and finished third. Just a few days later, he found himself on the radar of several Premier League sides, most notably Everton and Southampton. Now, it's a done deal for him to join the Saints for the second half of the season.
Fabrizio Romano, a journalist who specialises in this type of matter, assured through his social networks that the agreement between the parties is already complete. It will be settled for around six million pounds, or 6.792 million euros. The proposal was higher than that of the Toffees, who were not able to put so much money on the table, so the player's owners did not have to think about it too much. At least, that is what the Croatian media 'Germanijak' reports.
It has not yet emerged how many seasons the midfielder will be committed to Southampton, but it is expected to be at least a three-year deal as he is 30 years old and his new club will be investing a lot of money in him. He is tied to Dinamo Zagreb until the summer of 2026, which has made the deal a lot more expensive.
This step forward in Mislav Orsic's career, although not yet confirmed, could be another case of a player exploiting the World Cup in Qatar or, more generally, an international competition to win suitors. Thanks to his good work with Croatia, he will have the opportunity to test himself in the big leagues for the first time in his career.
