Fraser Forster is looking to leave Southampton, and the Saints seem eager to help him with a move.
The 30-year-old signed a five-year deal last summer, but was dropped from the team and made no appearances since Boxing Day. Mauricio Pellegrino's decision to drop Forster broke his run of playing 76 consecutive matches in the Premier League.
Pellegrino's successor Mark Hughes failed to restore the goalkeeper to the side, and the club are now expecting to receive offers for the player.
Alex McCarthy replaced Forster as first choice goalkeeper, and was awarded with new four-year deal at the club on Wednesday.
Forster had been one of the players that Southgate had his eye on, but after playing so little at club level, he was left out of the World Cup squad.
With Forster on the way out, Southampton are looking for a replacement who will challenge McCarthy for a starting position.
The Saints are reportedly looking at Angus Gunn, Manchester City's keeper who was on loan at Norwich for the past season.
