The Socceroos are donating $90,000 in match fees from Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Jordan to help encourage and support young Indigenous players.
The donation will go to a foundation run in a remote location in the Northern Territory and will help to provide youngsters with access to coaching, match experience and education. The foundation is run by John Moriarty in Borroloola.
The Socceroo skipper Mile Jedinak told The Guardian, “This is a cause the players are extremely passionate about,”
“The work that John Moriarty Football carries out is truly remarkable, and we are committed to bettering the lives of Indigenous Australians.”
Moriarty has thanked the club.
