Sevilla did the double over Real Betis in La Liga 2019/20 after deservedly winning in the opening game post COVID-19. A dodgy penalty call against Marc Bartra saw Lucas Ocampos convert in the 56th minute and then Fernando headed home a corner six minutes later to put the game beyond Rubi's men. Betis played for a 0-0 and had no chances of note until they were 2-0 down.
The home side had the first real chance when Lucas Ocampos smashed the crossbar from a tight angle with 10 minutes on the clock. Lopetegui's men continued to dominate possession and territory and targeted the near flank against a Betis side who sat back waiting for their opportunity. Kounde almost scored in the 21st minute after heading wide from a corner while Betis did very little.
De Jong had Sevilla's third clear oppoirtunity after Munir went round Bartra, but the Dutchman headed the cross wide of the goal and then right on half-time, Sevilla countered brillantly from the goalkeeper and Ocampos tested Joel after a lovely run by Ocampos. Rubi's side just had a Canales effort which went well over. Sevilla were the better side, but it was 0-0 at the interval.

In the second period, Sevilla almost scored following pinball in the Betis box. Navas ran brilliantly down the near side before Jordan did an airshot in the middle and then Ocampos and Munir could not turn the ball into the goal. Then, nine minutes into the second period, the controversial moment of the game came.
A Sevilla corner was flicked on and then Bartra headed the ball, but referee Mateu Lahoz said he leant into De Jong with his right arm. There was contact, but it seemed very little to give a spot kick. Bartra, who was booked, was very angry with the call, but the call stood. Lucas Ocampos sent Joel the wrong way from the spot and Betis' gameplan was ruined.
Six minutes later, it was 2-0. A corner was taken short, Jordan launched it into the box, Ocampos flicked it on at the near post and Fernando headed in from less than six yards out. The players hugged their opponents and social distancing was forgotten about.
Betis could have made it 2-1 when Borja Iglesias headed wide an Alex Moreno cross mand then Loren nearly turned the ball in 13 minutes from time after Emerson's pass. Joaquin also saw a goalbound curling strike cleared by Diego Carlos, but 'Los Verdiblancos' were unable to find a goal and Sevilla saw out the game reasonably comfortably.
