Serie A chooses Ukraine's Malinovsky as player of the month

Atalanta's Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Malinovsky (28) was named on Tuesday as the Italian League's Player of the Month for February, Serie A said in a statement.

Malinovsky was voted player of the month for factors such as his technical efficiency, passing accuracy and defensive contribution between matchdays 24 and 27 of the Italian domestic championship, in which the playmaker played three games and scored one goal.

The Ukrainian already received the award last season, in May 2021, and will collect the award next Sunday 13th March just before the start of the match between Atalanta and Genoa in Bergamo.

"The splendid match against Juventus is just a small part of what Malinovsky has brought to Atalanta in February. The playmaker is already a reality in our championship and is a player with a strike of extraordinary quality which, combined with his tactical intelligence, earns him the 'Player of the Month' award," said Luigi de Siervo, Serie A's executive director.
