Sergio Rico comes out of coma

The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who came through the youth ranks at Sevilla, where he was in the first team from 2014-15 to 2018-19, was on Saturday 27th May called up to the PSG squad for the penultimate league game, which they played at Strasbourg, where PSG drew 1-1 and went on to win the tournament.

After that match, Sergio Rico went to the village of El Rocio, where he had an accident and was taken to hospital in Seville on Sunday 28th May, where he has been since then.

Rico suffered a head trauma on 28th May, and has since been treated at Seville's University Hospital. The goalkeeper's wife, Alba Silva confirmed that the goalkeeper is now out of the coma.

"We can finally see the end of the tunnel. We're going there step by step. I knew from the beginning that he would get through it because he's a champion. We need to be patient," she said in a Spanish television programme.
