Levante lodged an appeal against the decision by the 'Juez de Competición' (Spanish Federation competition judge), who shelved the first claim by Levante. And the club from Valencia understood that the Barca academy player was suspended after seeing his fifth yellow card for Barca B the weekend before.
However, the RFEF's (Spanish Federation) Competition Committee rejected Levante's appeal who then went to the Spanish sports court (TAD) in an attempt to overturn this decision. And the TAD, according to radio station 'Cadena SER', has partially accepted their appeal. This organisation has apparently made void all previous verdicts by ordering the process to be started again. With this, the competition judge, Carmen Pérez, will have to study Levante's appeal.
That said, whatever the verdict is, this will not affect the course of the ongoing Copa del Rey in which Barca are in the final against Valencia. This is due to the fact that the TAD understands that Levante lodged the appeal after the deadline. Therefore, this decision is only to determine whether the Catalans breached the rules and whether to give them an appropiate fine and sporting punishment.
On the field, Barca knocked out Levante in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey despite losing 2-1 in the first leg at the Ciutat de Valencia. That was the match which Chumi played. He did not take part in the 3-0 Barcelona victory in the return fixture.
