In his press conference after his side's 1-1 draw against Poland, Ireland boss Martin O'Neil gave an update on the injury Seamus Coleman suffered against Wales in his side's previous UEFA Nations League game. The Republic of Ireland manager told 'RTE Sport': ''Seamus went for a scan. He has a little stress fracture, which is a concern.'
After recently returning from 10 months out with a broken leg, this new injury will no doubt come as a blow for the 29 year old Everton right-back, who had made a strong start to the Premier League season under new club manager Marco Silva.
International boss Martin O'Neil was still effusive ín his praise for the mentality of Coleman, his newly appointed skipper, saying: ''He is a great captain, a really great captain. He is inspirational and obviously we hope he is back in time for the games coming up.''
Whilst the Republic will hope Coleman returns before their next fixture against Northern Ireland on 15th November, it is expected Coleman will miss around the next 6 weeks of Premier League action.
