Schürrle turned a bad touch into a great goal

It looked like the attack, initiated by Michy Batshuayi had ended when André Schürrle's touch in the box saw the ball running away from him, but the German threw himself towards the goal and managed to turn his miscontrol into an impressive goal to put Borussia Dortmund 1-0 up against Atalanta in Thursday's Europa League knockout tie.

Michy Batshuayi started the move, stealing the ball in the centre of the pitch. He played it to Łukasz Piszczek, who picked out Schürrle with a pinpoint ball into the box.

Schurrle's initial touch was poor, letting the ball all-but escape him, but his reaction more than made up for it. As the ball drifted towards Atalanta keeper Etrit Berisha, who came out looking to claim it, the German threw his body towards the ball, managing to get a strong, accurate touch on the ball, which went right through the keeper's legs.
