Sampaoli wants Lenglet as well as Nico

Central defender Clement Lenglet has a contract at Barca until June 2026. However, he could pack his bags this summer. 

Barcelona need to reduce their wage bill in order to make signing. Xavi had already warned that, if the right offer came a long, important men such as Frenkie de Jong could also leave. 

Lenglet is one of the players who is on the way out. And Marseille, according to 'Sport', are the latest to knock on his door. 

Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli is looking for top signings for the exciting season which lies ahead. He has his eyes on Lenglet in defence and Nico Gonzalez in midfield. The two Barcelona footballers are reportedly on his list.

In the case of the Frenchman, the most viable option, the Catalan paper says, is for a traditional loan deal. There will be no compulsory purchase option. 

Barca and Marseille have spoken about his possible loan deal. The problem is Lenglet's high salary. 

The footballer knows Sampaoli well as they were together at Sevilla. However, he is reportedly not fully convinced. The difficulties Marseille have had historically are putting the footballer off moving there. Juve and Tottenham have also been linked as possible destinations for Lenglet. We will have to see what happens.
