Wayne Rooney's Derby County fell to a 1-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Bristol City in the former-England striker's first game as player-head-coach.
Wayne Rooney was appointed head-coach on Monday following the departure of Phillip Cocu.
But it wasn't the start that Rooney would have wanted as Derby lost despite dominating possession.
It was a scrappy affair as the Rams sat back and controlled possession, but struggled to create any big chances.
Famara Diédhiou came off the bench to score the winner for Bristol, firing in with his left foot in the 78th minute.
Derby sit bottom, with just six points and one win from their first 12 games. There is still time for them though - they are just three points off survival, with countless other sides struggling in the English second division.
