Rony Lopes is back at Sevilla. The Spanish side sent him on loan to Nice in Ligue 1 before the start of the season to get match fitness. The French side had an option to buy him, but they have decided not to take that up. Nice said goodbye to him in a statement.
"Another season is coming to an end. A very difficult season for me. I'd like to say thanks to all those who helped me, to the staff, to my teammates and to Nice fans. Now is the time to rest well and prepare well for next season, which will be incredible. Thank you," the player said on his Twitter account.

He made 33 appearances out on loan and started 27 of them. He scored five goals and also got two assists. His level is still a long way away from his performances in the 2017-18 season at Monaco. He scored 17 times in that campaign, the highest in his career, but these stats are not bad and could make Lopetegui think about keeping him.
What Lopetegui thinks will be key to his future. The coach will have to decide whether he wants him for next season or whether to tell the board to loan him out elsewhere. His contract runs until 2024 so Sevilla have time to decide what to do with him.
