'Ronaldo scores more in games than in training'

Bayern take on Real Madrid in the first leg of their European semi-final on Wednesday, a team who has proved unstoppable under talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.

For this reason, Wagner believes his team's defence will be crucial if they are to secure progression to the final.

He told 'Goal': "Our defence is strong. We have the best defence in Europe. We do not need to hide. Real Madrid were the strongest opponent in the draw, but our players are not blind. We are confident for both games".

Turning his attention to Ronaldo, who has scored 15 goals in the competition so far this season, Wagner was full of praise for his rival.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is fantastic. I know that many people criticise him, but I like him. It would be boring if everyone were equal.

"He scores more goals in matches than in practice. It will be great to play against him," the forward added.

The first leg will be played at the Allianz Arena whilst the return fixture will be at the Bernabeu on May 1.
