The report didn't hold back when lashing out at the Real Madrid star. They noted that it is not unusual for Ronaldo to be labelled: ''cocky, arrogant and narcissistic'', and blamed his high profile for a lack of reprimanding.
They wrote: ''Ronaldo has escaped several sanctions ex officio for unsportsmanlike conduct just for being who he is, and we Uruguayans hate everything he represents. Never has a football player represented so well what a Uruguayan detests in a human being.''
Despite their scatching review of the Portugal captain's personal traits, they could not ignore his phenomenal footballing skill. The report said: ''He is also an elite athlete, a talent that few have seen in the history of football.''
''He is an example of overcoming and striving to achieve the goals that someone can for many years. And we also hate him for that. We hate it so much that we admire it.''
When comparing him to Leo Messi, the publication was firmly in the Argentine's corner. It read: ''In every duel between Barcelona and Real Madrid, most of the Uruguayan fans wanted Messi to get away with it.''
Highlighting the particular love-hate relationship between the Uruguayans and the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, it said: ''He is the best athlete that football has ever produced, and every time we think his career is exhausted, he gets better and better again. That's why we hate him.''
The report concluded: ''We cannot tolerate the idea of being eliminated by Portugal and the whole world watching him show off his abs, in front of the Uruguayan team. That's why we have to win.''
