Rodgers not happy over Boyata situation

The centre-back's relationship with the club seems to have almsot completely disolved in the last few days, after the club broke a promise to let him leave for Premier League outfit Fulham according to the player's agent, who also claims that his client has an injury that will prevent him from playing in Tuesday night's game.

The Belgian international would have almost certainly featured for the 'Hoops' in the game, but with him making himself unavaliable, Rogers has expressed his sadness at the situation.

Rogers is preparing his team for a match that will prove pivotal in their season, as they need a win away at AEK Athens to progress to the next round of Champions League qualifiers.

"He is a player that we would have loved to have here with us. He is a player that has been with us over the last couple of seasons and at this time it would have been great to have him here." the former Liverpool manager said.

"But he is not and we need to put the faith in squad that want to be here and want to play for the result."

Although it is unclear how this stand off will be resolved, Rogers will have to focus his players on the task at hand regardless to take another step to qualifying for the group stages of the biggest competition in European club football.
