After the confirmed absence of Leigh Griffiths and the summer departure of Moussa Dembele to French club Olympique Lyonnais, Celtic only have one recognised striker in their first team squad.
Frenchman Odsonne Edouard is the only forward at manager Brendan Rodgers' disposal, and even though he is performing well for the Glawgow giants, his boss is keen to bring in more forwards to share the workload around his team.
Given the club's progression to the last 32 of the Europa League last week, as well as their hunt for an eighth straight SPFL title, Rodgers is all too aware that his squad requires more firepower.
The Northern Irishman admitted the need for new faces in an interview with 'Sky Sports' this week, saying: "We might need two in January because we want three strikers. We know we can't go through the number of games we have at the intensity we play at with the same striker."
He added: "It's something we'll definitely look at. It's always been a focus but Leigh's situation narrows it."
Celtic's next fixture comes on Wednesday night, when they welcome Motherwell to Park Head.
