It was reported that the two players had to be separated by teammates, after a furious row broke out between the pair during a training session ahead of their 2-1 home defeat by Chelsea.
Ritchie admits that the pair exchanged views in a rather heated discussion, but put the incident behind them 20 minutes later.
When questioned on the matter, Ritchie said, "Jamaal and I are two of the more vocal characters, very similar in the way we train and conduct ourselves. It was something that got overheated, but it was nothing personal and, 20 minutes later, everything was fine", he told 'Sky Sports'.
Then pressed further, Ritchie also added,"Yes I can be angry. You could say 'in your face' too. We're all different characters and I'm just passionate about winning. Like everyone else, I can wake up on the wrong side of bed and I'm an angry little Scotsman but some days I want a laugh and a joke."
Next up for Rafa Benitez' side is a tough trip away to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace, and the manager will be hoping that his team can avoid any further bust ups, in order to pick up a valuable first win in the the Premier League this season.
