Real Madrid v Chelsea: Blues seek revenge

Real Madrid already know the way if they want to retain the title they won in Saint-Dennis last year 2022. Real Madrid waited until Friday to find out their quarter-final and semi-final opponents.

Chelsea will be the team that Madrid will face, as happened in last season's edition, in which the 'Merengue' team went through despite the Blues comeback.

'Los Blancos' will play the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, unlike in the 2021-22 edition, when Carlo Ancelotti's side eliminated the Londoners at the Madrid stadium.

In addition, Real Madrid, should they reach the semi-finals, will face the winner of Manchester City-Bayern, with the first leg of the semi-finals at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The first leg of the quarter-finals will be played on 11th or 12th April. A week later, Chelsea and Real Madrid will fight it out for a place in the semi-finals at Stamford Bridge.

2022 in the memory

Real Madrid will meet Chelsea again after meeting in the quarter-finals last season, with Real Madrid advancing to the next round.

Carlo Ancelotti's side looked to have got the tie settled in the first leg at Stamford Bridge. A hat trick from Karim Benzema made it 1-3 in the quarter-finals.

However, against all odds, Chelsea came from behind at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Blues went 3-0 up in the 75th minute, but Madrid's Champions League magic came to the fore.

Rodrygo levelled the tie and sent it into extra time. There, Karim Benzema appeared again to send Real Madrid through to the semi-finals of the Champions League 2021-22.
