Real Madrid renews Lunin's contract until 2028

Andriy Lunin's future at Real Madrid is assured. Despite the request for more minutes, overshadowed by the performances of Thibaut Courtois, the Ukrainian will remain a Real Madrid player.

'Marca' reported that the player and club have already reached an agreement and that it will be made official this week, just on the return of the national team break where Lunin has been a substitute for Ukraine.

The goalkeeper's contract with Real Madrid expires in June 2025, so the club was in a hurry to reach an agreement. If this had not happened, he could have negotiated with another club from January 1.

This summer, Lunin let slip that his future might not be at Real Madrid. Indeed, the White entity was waiting to see if he would leave to bring back Kepa, who left to return to Chelsea.

Ancelotti's decision to opt for Courtois in the Champions League final, when Lunin had been the starter all year due to the injury of the former Atletico player, made it clear to the Ukrainian that he was not going to have a place in the eleven if the Belgian remained in the team. 

With the renewal of the Ukrainian, the team led by Carlo Ancelotti strengthened its goalkeeping. Once Courtois is unable to play, Lunin will be ready to take his place in goal.
