Real Madrid hit by Ceballos injury for two months

Dani Ceballos has a right ankle sprain with ligament damage. Real Madrid confirmed the injury in a medical statement released on Monday morning. The midfielder had been part of Carlo Ancelotti's starting eleven against Real Betis and was substituted after 65 minutes.

"Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Dani Ceballos, he has been diagnosed with a grade 3 sprain with ligament damage to his right ankle. His progress will be monitored", reads the statement issued by the club, who will begin work on his joint during the first international break of the season.

The Andalusian player had not started since 7 August, when he faced Chelsea in the pre-campaign tournament known as the Soccer Champions Tour. He had not played in an official game since 19 May, when he faced Villarreal in a league clash that ended in a 4-4 draw. That match was marked by a hat-trick from Alexander Sorloth, who joined Atletico this summer.

Dani Ceballos should be back to full fitness for the fourth matchday of the Champions League league phase when Real Madrid will host Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu. By that time, the ‘Merengues’ will have already faced Stuttgart, Lille and Borussia Dortmund in Europe. In addition to important matches in the calendar such as the first ‘Clasico’ or the derby against Atletico.
