Real Madrid eye up Germany U21s star

At just 22, Toljan is already a very important player for Hoffenheim. He made 20 appearances for the club last season, starting 14 and playing the full 90 on six occasions. Over the course of last season he scored once and also provided one assist.

He was also a major part of the Germany U21 team that won the U21 European Championship this summer and started that incredible week for German football, which also saw them lift the Confederations Cup.

Toljan is primarily a right-back, but he showed his versatility last season by playing at left-back, centre-back and on both flanks.

The player's performances have attracted interest from Germany's biggest sides, but there is also considerable interest overseas as well. 

Several sources claim that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the player.

Normally when a talented young German arrives on the scene, it is just a matter of time until they are snapped up by Bayern Munich. However, given the strength of the current Bayern squad and the lack of need for reinforcements, perhaps there is hope for other clubs.
