Erik ten Hag wanted Marcus Rashford to take over from Cristiano Ronaldo and he had no trouble admitting in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Nottingham Forest game that his formation was based around Rashford.
After six minutes, the English international did more than what the coach asked of him. Casemiro opened play to the touchline and practically on the halfway line, the number 10 got the ball.
From then on, Rashford started running. The forward, with lots of skill and a bit of good fortune, he left his opponents for dead. If that was not enough, when he got in front of Wayne Hennessey, the striker finished brilliantly.
Then, just before half-time it was two. Casemiro gave the ball to Antony, his shot from outside the box was saved by Hennessey and Weghorst was there to tap in the rebound.
