Fresh talks have begun between Rangers and Hearts for Northern Ireland player Kyle Lafferty.
According to some reports, the deal could be confirmed by the end of the week.
Gerrard has been coy when talking about signings recently.
The Rangers manager saw a £200,000 deal thrown out last month, but is still keen to bring in the 30-year-old.
Lafferty scored the winner for Hearts against Celtic last weekend.
The Tyneside club are interested in bringing in Lee Wallace back, and discussions will continue for Lafferty amid optimism of a return.
Gerrard has reportedly spent time speaking to chairman Dave King in order to finalise their plans for the rest of the transfer window.
When asked about the discussions, Gerrard said: "We have had a couple of chats since he has been over, all very positive. He seems to be in a good place. I'm in a good place. It's all positive."
He was then asked whether there has been any progress in terms of transfer targets, to which he replied: "A little bit, yes."
"I've made no secret that if we can add another body to it I'll be more than satisfied," Gerrard said.
"The only way we'll need a bigger squad is if we qualify for the Europa League."
