Sergio Ramos' arrival at PSG meant that Thilo Kehrer had to part ways with his shirt number. He didn't put up any form of resistence, maybe because he thought it was a lost battle from the start. Or perhaps he was willing to let it go because he plans to leave the club this summer.
According to 'L'Equipe', PSG have valued Kehrer at around 20 million euros. Whoever arrives this transfer window and is willing to pay that amount will secure the services of the German. Either way it is a poor deal for the Parisians, who paid 35 million for him in 2018.
However, Kehrer is yet to reach the level that he promised during his time at Schalke. With players the stature of Marquinhos and Kimpembe already in front of him, it looks like the arrival of Ramos will be the final straw.
Kehrer giving away his shirt number to Ramos - who reportedly thanked him in person during the first training session for his new club - was the first step towards his eventual departure. It was already rumoured that his hours were numbered at the club, after they were revealed to be planning a huge summer clearout. Now that news looks to be all but confirmed.
