Villarreal have found out that their second Europa League group game which sees them play away to Qarabag will now be played in Istanbul. UEFA decided to prevent matches taking place in Armenia and Azerbaijan due to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The match was set to be played at the Tofik Bakhramov stadium in Baku, but it will now be held at the Baseksehir Fatih Terim stadium in Istanbul (Turkey). The game will still start at 18:55 CET.
A change to the venue six days before the match means the La Liga side must change their travel plans although they were aware that it was not going to be in Azerbaijan.
Villarreal beat Sivasspor in their Europa League opener while Qarabag lost away to Maccabi Tel Aviv.
