Police detain three supporters at Sporting's stadium

It hadn't even reached kick-off before their was another episode of tension in the European competition. According to reports from witnesses in Lisbon, a group of Madrid supporters started confronting the Portuguese police both outside and inside the stadium.

It got so bad inside that the security forces had to arrest three of them, whilst using pepper spray to deter the others from experiencing a similar fate. 

Firefighters than had to appear at the scene to attend to people poisoned by the gas whilst treating others who were injured after climbing over stairwells to flee the police charge.
