Brown is shortlisted alongside three other Scottish players, namely fellow Celtic team-mate James Forrest, Kilmarnock's Kris Boyd and Hibernian's John McGinn.
The 32-year-old is on the cusp of glory in the Scottish Premiership, as Celtic will be claiming the title if they can defeat rivals Rangers at Celtic Park on Sunday. Brown has featured in all bar four of the 'Bhoys' league matches this season.
Meanwhile, striker Boyd has scored 16 goals in 30 outings thus claiming the league top scorer title, and resulting in a contract extension at Kilmarnock until next year.
Forrest has provided six assists and scored seven goals, after winning the Young Player of the Year award six years ago in the 2011-2012 season.
Meanwhile, McGinn has been a regular starter in midfield for Hibernian, as the club have relished their return to the Premiership after three seasons away.
Last year, Celtic were the dominating force in the awards ceremony with accolades going to Scott Sinclair [Player of the Year], Moussa Dembele [Goal of the Season], Brendan Rodgers [Manager of the Season] and Kieran Tierney [Young Player of the Year].
