Porto's veteran centre-back Pepe, captain of the team and a former Real Madrid player, has today been named the best defender of April in the Portuguese league, according to the competition's website.
The Portuguese defender won the award after obtaining 16.67% of the votes of the coaches of the Portuguese championship teams.
According to the report shared by La Liga, the former Real Madrid player was one of Porto's cornerstones in a month in which the club won every game they played.
The month of April for the Portuguese-Brazilian has also been marked by the renewal of his contract with the Portuguese side for another year, until 2024.
At the age of 40, Kepler Laveran De Lima Ferreira (Maceio, Brazil) has excelled in his second spell at Porto, which he represented between 2004 and 2007 and to which he returned in 2019.
So far, he has helped the club win four Portuguese Leagues, three Portuguese Cups, five Portuguese Super Cups and the Club World Cup.
His extensive list of honours also includes three Champions Leagues and three Spanish Leagues won with Real Madrid and Euro 2016 with Portugal, among many other trophies.
