Spanish full-back Pedro Porro has said goodbye to Sporting Clube de Portugal before signing for Tottenham Hotspur. He will "pursue his dream" there, but he has said that he is "very grateful" to the Portuguese club.
"I'm very happy about this move, but I'm leaving a club which has given me everything. I'm very grateful. I hope that everything goes well for them," he said in Lisbon airport before flying to London. "I've left a lot of friends here since I left, I'm grateful to them and now I have to go and chase my dream," the Spanish full-back said.
Porro, 23, will sign for Tottenham after weeks of negotiations between the two clubs. The Spaniard arrived at Sporting on loan from Pep Guardiola's Man City and quickly became one of the key players at the club.
In his first season, he was key to Sporting winning their first Portuguese league title in 19 years. He has been part of the league's best XI for the last two seasons.
After two years on loan, Sporting have decided to sell Porro, who now leaves Lisbon after 12 goals and 20 assists in 98 matches.
