Neymar being accused of diving is nothing new, but the PSG forward was under intense scrutiny during the clash against Costa Rica, due to his theatrics, his tears at the end of the game, and the fact that he had a penalty overturned by VAR.
He had initially been awarded the spot kick late on, but replays showed that he went down extremely easily after a touch from Giancarlo Gonzalez, and the video assistant ruled that there should be no penalty.
This led to criticism of Neymar, and Oviedo has stated that he himself had words with the Brazilian.
"I just said to him, 'Hey, don't go down for everything, man'," Oviedo said, as reported by the 'Daily Mail'. "He's a very good player but sometimes you only just have to touch him a little and he goes to the floor."
"It is difficult when players do that. Look at the penalty - it was only the smallest of touches and he went down. They got the right decision not to allow it."
"In England they do it differently and that is how I play. You see players like Willian - if you kick him he just carries on with the ball. That's how you should play, that's what you should do."
