OFFICIAL: Soyuncu swaps Leicester for Atletico

Caglar Soyuncu, who has played for Leicester City for the past five terms, arrived in Madrid on Tuesday to join Atletico with the excitement of playing for a club "as big" as the Spanish side, to which he will sign for the next four seasons.

His contract with the Foxes expired at the end of June and he has joined Diego Simeone's side as a free agent. The centre-back has always played a key role at the English side but will now have to show his skills at the Metropolitano stadium.

"Soyuncu is now a new player for Atletico following the agreement reached between our club and the Turkish footballer, who signs for four seasons," the Spanish club wrote on their website.

His signing came as no surprise as the 27-year-old had already spoken to the press on Tuesday as Atletico's new player when he landed in Madrid: "I am delighted with the welcome. It's very exciting. I'm very lucky to be here to play for such a big club like Atletico," he said.
